How Can We Make Spiritual Intimacy Central In Our Healing?

Sharing the Good News with everyone begins right in our own homes. Your marriage is your mission field to step out in faith and encourage spiritual growth in your husband. Talking and listening to each other on spiritual topics can draw a couple closer together better than almost any other way. Growing spiritually together builds a oneness in the Lord that is unique to each couple.

Kay offered her perspective from her experience: “Spiritual intimacy with our husbands is not only desirable but absolutely necessary for our spiritual growth and his. We worship together. We serve together. We study together (although I would like to do more!). Frankly, we were doing a lot of those things at the time I discovered his stash of pornography, which I believe was really a cry for help. My husband stashed his pornographic movies on top of my paper cutter in my craft area, which turned out to not be such a great ‘hiding’ place. I believe my husband was ready to surrender and return to the Lord. Because our marriage was on ‘life support,’ we both stepped it up in our efforts to get closer to God and one another. We continued going to church, but listened more carefully and that included both of us taking notes. God was gracious to help us every step of the way. Our Lord desires that closeness with us – and I believe He also desires a deep spiritual connection between the two of us in marriage.”
