How can I help my husband’s spiritual life?

God desires for us to live holy lives.  In marriage, we are also to encourage one another to greater spiritual maturity.  When sexual impurity enters a marriage, it may be difficult for you to set aside your pain, disappointment, or despair in favor of seeking God’s best for your husband.  However, God can use you where you are to lift up your husband in prayer and to encourage him toward a right relationship with God.

Rebecca knew before her marriage that her husband was using pornography.  “I thought it would get better once we were married.  Over time, I felt rejected when my husband didn’t want to be intimate with me as often as I wanted to be with him.  Then I realized this was a spiritual battle.  I began to talk to God about it with growing seriousness and focus.  I prayed that his mind would be renewed, that he would have the mind of Christ and that the purpose of the Lord would come to fruition in his life.”  She was later pleased when her husband recognized his sin and began his journey toward sexual purity.
