Lesson 34

Lesson 34

How will I know if my husband is ready to get rid of his sin?

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing, and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

It may be important to dig deep to learn the causes of a husband’s sexual sins, but it may be far better to know that he is seriously willing to become transformed in his mind. The struggle for him may have already been going on in his heart and mind for many years by the time it is revealed within the marriage.

Kay’s husband has found freedom from sexual impurity, but his journey was a long one. He was troubled for over 30 years off and on, starting in his teen years before he met his wife. “His willingness to be transparent with me and see a marriage counselor really helped the healing begin in our marriage. His job is very physical and he was willing to drive 90 minutes one way to our counselor, eat supper in the truck, see our counselor with me, then drive home and get up very early the next morning to return to work. He never wavered or cancelled any appointments. I could see that he was really trying to change and was being renewed. He also took a biblical online purity course for men, although he can barely type. It would take him a long time to complete each lesson, but he did it and I was and am proud of him. We also began praying together each day for our marriage and that really helped.”

Suggested prayer:  Lord, lead my husband to a renewed and transformed mind as he rids his life of inappropriate thoughts and actions. Help me to find my rest and peace in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
