Lesson 73

Lesson 73

How Can My Spirituality Impact My Husband’s Purity?

Peace is what I leave with you; it is My own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.”John 14:27

An important role in helping our husbands with purity comes through finding God’s peace for ourselves. When we are solid in our faith and we can trust Him with our needs, then He will provide the peace and security we need to be mighty helpers for our husbands. Our great need for security cannot be met through our husbands alone, but it is satisfied through the peace we have in our Lord.

When Beth was asked what peace-filled ways she found to help her husband on the way to purity, she mentioned several things she learned through her journey. “I had to understand that on my husband’s path to purity, he was going to have to seek and find an understanding on his own. Sometimes it’s less about direct support through correction and learning, and more about giving your husband space and license to develop his own way out, to grow his own faith, and to build a desire to change. It has to be more than just pleasing me, but rather for him to get right with God.”

Beth continued: “I had to grow in my own relationship with the Lord. Peace comes from hope, hope comes from trust, and trust comes from faith. Growing my relationship with the Lord yielded fruit in my marriage and encouraged my husband. I let my husband know how thankful I was for him, for who he is, and the importance of our marriage partnership. Together we found restoration as we drew nourishment from the Lord.”

Suggested prayer:  Dear Lord, show me how I can help my husband with purity while You also show me the way to draw closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
