Lesson 3

Lesson 3

How do I deal with his sexual sin?

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”Ephesians 6:12

It was a roller-coaster ride for Ann as the ugly facts emerged over time.  Her stomach ached from the twists and turns of uncovering the issue that troubled their marriage.  At first she told no one, turning to God’s Word and books on the subject, hoping God would heal her heart.  Another avalanche of devastating information seemed to bury her alive.  She sensed the spiritual problem where they needed help.  “I told my husband we must call our pastor and discuss this matter.  Either he could call him or I would,” Ann declared.  She was determined to restore their marriage by accessing the power of the Holy Spirit.

Unfortunately, too many couples get hung up on the husband’s efforts to hide his sin and the wife’s focus on his inappropriate behaviors.  While both issues must be addressed in the restoration process, Jesus Christ has already triumphed over sin through His sacrifice on the Cross.  “You belong to God, my dear children.  You have already won a victory … because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”  (John 4:4)

Suggested prayer: Help me, Lord, to seek the power of the Holy Spirit in fighting this battle against the evil forces, for I know that You have already won the victory over sin. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Information for your prayer partner: Please share how you will bring this sin into the light in a godly way to begin the path to recovery.
